Hyundai registers highest domestic sales in 2023
Hyundai Motor India achieved the highest-ever domestic sales in the calendar year 2023, surpassing the six lakh sales milestone. The automaker recorded sales of 6,02,111 units, registering a 9 per cent increase over the previous year's 5,52,511 units. Additionally, Hyundai Motor India elevated its export performance by 10 per cent, shipping 1,63,675 units in 2023 compared to 1,48,300 units in the previous year. In December 2023, Hyundai Motor India achieved total sales of 56,450 units, comprising 42,750 units in domestic sales and 13,700 units in exports. «HMIL has not just kept pace but surpassed industry growth (estimated at around 8.2%), a testament to customers choosing brand Hyundai as their preferred mobility brand,» said Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India. «Also, in 2023, we proactively expanded our annual production capacity by 50,000 units to meet the increasing demand from our customers.» The automaker presently operates from 1,366 sales points and 1,548 service points across India. The model line-up consists of 13 car models across segments: Grand i10 NIOS, i20, i20 N-Line, AURA, EXTER, VENUE, VENUE N-Line, VERNA, CRETA, ALCAZAR, TUCSON, KONA Electric and all-electric SUV IONIQ 5. Parliament security breach has revealed that the accused people have been planning to storm the Lok Sabha since 2015, a year after they created a social media page, Bhagat Singh Fan Club, claimed officials in the know of the investigation. The main accused, Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma who jumped into the Lok Sabha well, were the initial members of the group. Lalit Jha, Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde joined it later. Three others, who were also part of the online forum, are being questioned and one of them is said to be involved in arranging logistics for the meetings where they made the planning, the sources said. According to police, Jha disclosed that all the accused had met many times and executed the conspiracy.

IAF to extend life of Russian Su-30MKI fighter jet fleet by more than 20 years
MKI fighter jets about two decades ago, the Indian Air Force is now planning to extend the service life of its Russian-origin combat aircraft by more than 20 years. The Indian Air Force has inducted 272 of the Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft operating in its fleet and the twin-engine planes are going to be the mainstay of the force for at least the next 15-20 years. «Indian Air Force is looking to extend the service life of the fighter jets by another 20 years or more. Indian Air Force carries out extensive tests on the airframe and other parts of the aircraft to extend their service life and has had earlier experience in doing so,» defence officials told ANI. «Service life extension would help the Indian Air Force to maintain the fleet of its mighty Su-30s around 2045-2050,» they said. Indian Air Force is also working on boosting the capabilities of the aircraft by equipping it with major upgrades in terms of indigenous advanced radars, avionics and weapon systems.
