Japan’s stock market is booming. It isn’t all about the weak yen.
Is a weak currency good for Japan’s stock market? It is complicated. A lower yen is traditionally seen as positive for Japanese stocks as it should make its exports more competitive. And this is certainly still true to some extent.

Mamata was silent as women in Sandeshkhali were tortured on basis of religion: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Friday accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of maintaining silence on the issue of Sandeshkhali, where complaints of sexual abuse have emerged against TMC leaders, and said the BJP «will not spare single culprit and will hang them upside down». While addressing an election rally at Majdia in Ranaghat Lok Sabha seat in Nadia district, Shah alleged that Banerjee was «misleading» people on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) and slammed the TMC dispensation over alleged corruption cases in the state. On the incidents in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders have been made, Shah said it is a matter of shame that «Mamata Banerjee, despite being a woman chief minister, tried to protect the culprits».

BJP seeks votes in name of God instead of talking about inflation, jobs: Priyanka Gandhi
Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday alleged the ruling BJP seeks votes in the name of God instead of talking about how it will control inflation or provide employment to people. Addressing a number of 'nukkad sabhas' in support of Congress candidate from Amethi Lok Sabha seat Kishori Lal Sharma, Priyanka Gandhi said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi claims on TV that his government did in 10 years the work that was not done in the last 70 years, the situation on the ground level is different. Sharma is pitted against sitting Amethi MP Smriti Irani. The BJP leader had wrested the seat, which was considered a Gandhi family stronghold, from Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Targeting Irani, Priyanka Gandhi said her sole intention was to defeat Rahul Gandhi.

Mutual Funds: How do index funds provide long-term wealth creation opportunities?
Also Read: Your Questions Answered: Should I invest in single stocks or index funds? Please elaborate Essentially, index funds aim to replicate the performance of a benchmark index, like the BSE Sensex or NSE Nifty 50, by mirroring its composition. This passive investment strategy offers a stark contrast to the active management approach, where fund managers engage in frequent activity to determine the ideal portfolio mix.

Mechanisms in place to track social media, difficult to look at everything: Delhi poll body chief
Delhi poll body has various mechanisms in place to monitor paid news and social media, Chief Electoral Officer P Krishnamurthy said, even as he admitted that it is not plausible to keep a check on online platforms due to the large volumes of content. In an interview with PTI, Krishnamurthy also dismissed allegations about the poll panel being biased and asserted that it provides a "level playing field". Announcing the schedule of the general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar noted the complexity of tackling misinformation in the digital age and said the Election Commission had put in place certain measures to nip misinformation in the bud. Kumar had also said the commission would launch a "Myth vs Reality" project to clear the air around fake news on social media.

KL Rahul likely to continue as captain of LSG despite ‘public scolding’
KL Rahul's future as Lucknow Super Giants skipper has become a topic of intense debate after his team received a pasting at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. It is being speculated that the skipper may step down and concentrate on his batting in the remaining two games. However since it's a matter of just two games, Rahul is expected to continue as leader of the pack. «There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, no one would mind,» an IPL source told PTI on conditions of anonymity. A video of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka's agitated conversation with Rahul emerged on social media after Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Travis Head (89 not out off 30 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (75 off 28 balls) bludgeoned the LSG attack to overhaul the 167-run target in less than 10 overs.

India's FY24 fiscal gap may be slightly better than revised estimates: Official
fiscal deficit, in absolute terms, could be slightly better than the revised estimates for FY24, on the back of better than expected revenue receipts, an official said. In the interim Budget in February, the government pegged its FY24 fiscal deficit at ₹17.35 lakh crore, against the budget estimate of ₹17.89 lakh crore. The deficit-to-GDP ratio was estimated to improve to 5.8% in FY24 from the budgeted 5.9%, despite slower-than-anticipated nominal growth.
