Pending Delhi Traffic Police challan: Option to pay a lower amount or get a full waiver; will it be beneficial for you?
Delhi Traffic Police notices/challans will get a one-time opportunity to settle it with some reduction or complete waiver. Delhi State Legal Services Authority in coordination with Delhi Traffic Police is organising a National Lok Adalat on May 11, 2024, to settle a large number of pending claims. In this type of special court (Adalat), you can present pending payment of Delhi Traffic Police challans/notices and either get it settled at a lower amount or dismiss it. As per a social media post by Delhi Traffic Police, National Lok Adalat will take up cases including the settlement of compoundable traffic challans (applicable for commercial vehicles as well) that have been pending on the Delhi Traffic Police portal till January 31, 2024. According to IPS Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, special commissioner of police Zone 2, Delhi Traffic Police, «The initiative of Lok Adalat has proven instrumental in providing a more accessible avenue for individuals to address their pending traffic challans and associated legal matters. By offering a streamlined and informal process, it not only eases the burden on the traditional legal system but also expedites the resolution process for those involved in traffic violations.»

Toronto’s construction season traffic is ‘unacceptable.’ Is there a better way?
construction season.Workers will be outside taking advantage of the weather to get all sorts of projects done, such as road maintenance and sewer upgrades. However, the season is notorious for its traffic congestion, and with the amount of work going on, planning experts say better execution is needed to reduce the impact on people’s lives.“Disruption for a day, week or month is understandable. Disruption for five years to your life is something unacceptable,” said Murtaza Haider, a professor of management at Toronto Metropolitan University and director of the Urban Analytics Institute.“The kind of systems we have put in place (and) the kind of oversights we have put in place are not necessarily conducive for rapid, fast execution and delivery of transit infrastructure or transportation infrastructure.”Every spring, construction crews take to the streets of many Ontario cities to begin work on projects, taking advantage of the warm weather because some work can’t be done during the cold months, said Matti Siemiatycki, a professor of geography and planning and director of the Infrastructure Institute at the University of Toronto.Last year, work during Toronto’s construction season was pegged at $1.14 billion, and involved maintenance and upgrades to roads, bridges, expressways, TTC tracks, sewers and watermains. But nowadays, Toronto residents are beginning to see projects planned for year-round work. For example, parts of the city’s Gardiner Expressway were recently reduced by one lane in each direction for “critical rehabilitation work” over the next three years.

Bengaluru police issue heavy traffic alert in Majestic area due to Lok Sabha polls on May 7: Here are alternative routes
Bengaluru traffic police have issued a warning to commuters regarding potential traffic congestion near the bustling Majestic area, in anticipation of the third phase of Lok Sabha elections slated for May 7. With fourteen Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka gearing up for polls, a significant number of individuals from North and central Karnataka are expected to depart Bengaluru to cast their votes on Monday. To accommodate the surge in travelers, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has deployed additional buses for those heading to their hometowns to participate in the electoral process. Consequently, a heightened volume of buses is foreseen, which may lead to congestion around the Majestic area. In a statement, Bengaluru traffic police urged the public to be mindful of the situation, stating, «An appeal to the public, Due to the 2nd phase of Lok Sabha election in Karnataka state, a large number of people are going to their hometowns and KSRTC has left additional buses from Majestic / Kempegowda Bus Stand. There is a possibility of traffic congestion.» In light of the potential congestion, alternative routes have been advised:

Soon travel time between Mumbai and Pune to come down to just 2 hours. Here is the latest update
Mumbai-Pune commuters will have to wait a bit longer for smoother travel as the completion of the crucial cable-stayed bridge, a pivotal part of the Rs 6,695 crore missing link project, faces delays. Despite initial projections for a July deadline this year, the bridge's construction may extend until March of the following year, delaying the anticipated reduction in travel time by half an hour, a Mumbai Mirror report stated. Challenges and Delays: Anil Kumar Gaikwad, the Managing Director of MSRDC, elucidated the complexities hindering the project's timeline. Factors such as the formidable task of erecting four 182-meter-tall pylons amidst the valley's relentless winds and precarious visibility conditions have contributed to the delay. Moreover, the exigencies imposed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with the logistical hurdles of deploying skilled workers to lofty heights, have compounded the construction challenges. Anticipated Impact on Travel: The completion of the missing link project holds significant promise for streamlining travel between Mumbai and Pune, offering a respite from the arduous journey through the ghat section. With 85% of the Expressway's current traffic expected to migrate to the new route upon its inauguration, commuters can anticipate a smoother and more time-efficient journey. The project aims to bypass the treacherous Khandala ghat section, thereby trimming the distance between the two bustling cities by over 6 kilometers and slashing travel time by nearly 30 minutes.
