End of an Era: McConnell Steps Down as Senate Republican Leader
Quiver Quantitative — Mitch McConnell, the longstanding leader of the U.S. Senate Republicans, has announced his decision to step down from his leadership role, a position he has held for nearly 17 years. This announcement, made on the Senate floor, marks the end of an era for the party and opens up a significant power vacuum. McConnell, who turned 82 last week, expressed a poignant acknowledgment of the inevitiveness of time and the need for a new generation of leadership. His tenure has been marked by significant achievements, notably his instrumental role in securing a 6-3 conservative majority in the Supreme Court, which led to landmark rulings on abortion and gun rights.

Revaluation call: Don’t write off businesses challenged by sunrise rivalry
It seems that over the past decade or so, a whole host of stocks and sectors have been written off by investors. Newspapers, linear television, thermal power, anything related to the internal combustion engine, offline travel agents—the list is long. However, in the real world, many of them are still ubiquitous.

Household survey: Fresh light on India’s consumption conundrum
There has been a huge divergence in India among observers on the state of consumption in general and the health of rural demand in particular. Not surprisingly, there is also a squabble over the appropriate letter of the alphabet to denote the shape of consumption demand. There has also been a discernible cleft between rural and urban areas, as also between goods and services, when it comes to the rates and patterns of private consumption demand growth.

BCCI cracks the whip: Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan lose central contracts for ignoring domestic cricket
BCCI) on Wednesday cracked the whip on cricketers who refused to comply with its directives requiring all centrally-contracted and A -team players, who are fit to play, to make themselves available for participation in the domestic cricket tournaments. The BCCI announced a list of 30 senior men’s cricketers, up from last year’s 26, for the annual central contracts, with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja remaining in the topmost Grade A+ category. However, two names were conspicuous by their absence – Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. Iyer, who had a Grade B contract, was part of the Test side for the first two matches against England before being dropped for lack of runs. He had some issues with his back and went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for treatment. However, despite being declared fit by the NCA, he informed the Mumbai Cricket Association that wouldn’t be available for the Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Baroda saying that he was suffering from back spasms. Since then, though, he has joined the Mumbai squad for the semi-final against Tamil Nadu starting from March 2.

Congress takes steps to save HP govt; Sukhu battles in-house challenge
Congress MLAs for staying away from assembly during the passing of the financial bill on Wednesday, Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Congress leadership were on Wednesday battling to save the CM's chair and the state government, a fallout of the clinical internal ambush of the party's Rajya Sabha candidate. This, even as state minister Vikramaditya Singh, son of the late Virbhadra Singh, resigned — who later clarified that he wasn't pressing for it — by raising a banner of revolt against the leadership of Sukhu, who had stood up to Vikramaditya's late father, a six-term CM, during his heydays. CM Sukhu ruled out resignation and opted to fight it out in a full-fledged power-struggle against BJP in the backdrop of delicate number games, check-mating moves and prospective legal wrangle.
