Sona BLW fell by up to 3% on the BSE on March 4, after U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday, «there is no room left for Mexico or Canada,» confirming that a 25% tariff on imports will take effect from Tuesday. The shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings fell by 2.7% to a low of Rs 472.80 in early trade, while Samvardhana Motherson International shares slipped 2.4% to their day's low of Rs 116.55.

Income Tax Department has recently released a new brochure highlighting how clubbing of income provisions is applicable for individual taxpayers. Clubbing of income refers to the situation in which your wife’s or child’s or other person’s income is included in your total income and accordingly taxed. Under the Income Tax Act, 1961 income will be clubbed in the hands of either the husband or wife whose total income is higher. Ramakrishnan Srinivasan, former chief commissioner of Income Tax Department says: "«Many taxpayers are not aware of the clubbing provisions of Income Tax Act, 1961 and accordingly land up getting slapped with huge tax demand for arranging their financial affairs with their relatives. One such case which I remember was about a taxpayer who gave cash gift to his spouse and she invested it in fixed deposit in her name and offered interest income in her income tax return. The tax department applied the clubbing provisions and taxed the interest income in the hands of the husband. Similarly in another case, a salaried employee opened a fixed deposit (FD) in the name of his minor daughter out of his savings and did not offer the interest income in his hands thinking that interest is getting accumulated in his daughter’s account without realizing the clubbing provisions of Income Tax Act, 1961. The tax department brought the said income to tax in the hands of the employee and also levied stiff penalty on the ground under reporting of income which amounts to misreporting.»

What is your take on the defence pack because we are seeing a lot of these stocks participating and globally we are getting to hear that European markets are definitely looking to up their game with respect to defence spending. Within the Indian markets, some of these companies have exposure to the European markets, a case in point being BEL, which is one of the top gainers. After the correction, are you spotting any opportunities there? Chakri Lokapriya: Basically the defence stocks have all corrected a good 40-50% on the back of lower Indian government spending and there was some amount of re-rating downwards of earnings expectations for the stocks. Fast forward to a few months later, the world is a slightly different place with NATO itself is in a major flux and that is leading to a number of individual European countries increasing their percentage of GDP budget on defence, the UK is a case in point and that will be followed by other countries.

U.S. District Judge Eumi Lee in San Jose, California, on Friday said the plaintiffs in the class action had not shown Apple violated federal or state antitrust law. However, she ruled they could amend their complaint and refile it. The lawsuit alleged Apple violated antitrust law by coercing customers to use the company's iCloud service to back up core data and device setting files. Apple has denied any wrongdoing.

The five-year-old startup hit the new valuation as it sold $150 million worth of its secondaries to investors including Singaporean wealth fund GIC, Thrive Capital, Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst, Ramp said in a statement on Monday.
