Deven Choksey on 3 themes that are right for investing in a volatile market
Deven Choksey, MD, DRChoksey FinServ Pvt. Ltd, says he is confident about investing in the metal sector as the metal market is about to undergo a significant change. Energy prices are stable, while demand remains strong and positive. As energy prices are expected to decrease due to the rise of renewable energy and its use in power consumption, he sees a real possibility for lower energy costs. This creates a strong opportunity for investing in metals. Additionally, consumption is on the rise, which benefits the lending industry. He anticipates that lending costs will also decrease. Some NBFCs and corporate banks with substantial assets will be in a better position for investment.

Parl panel likely to take up issue of poor treatment of Indians working abroad
parliamentary committee headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is likely to look into the issue covering the condition of people going overseas for work. Sources said the Standing Committee on External Affairs in its first meeting on Monday discussed its agenda, and this issue came up for discussion. They said MPs expressed concern over the issue, with a seasoned parliamentarian referring to the recent case of some Indians being forced to work for the Russian military in its war against Ukraine after they arrived there on the promise of employment. The government had informed Parliament in August that at least eight Indians were killed in the conflict and that it had strongly taken up the matter with Russia for their discharge and overall safety.
