PSU banks offer better opportunity for outsized absolute returns in next 1-2 years: Anshul Saigal
Anshul Saigal, Founder, Saigal Capital, says While public sector banks trade at about 1 to 1.5 times book on price to earnings basis, 5 to 10 times price to earnings, on a ROE basis, the outlook over the next one to two years for PSBs will be 15-16%, which is where the private sector banks are as well. With 15-20% earnings growth, private sector banks are in a similar range. Now, if valuations are materially attractive as compared to private sector banks, then in absolute return terms, PSU banks should deliver better returns as compared to private sector banks. Of course, if you want to prevent downsides and volatility, then the larger private sector banks are the place to hide.

Congress questions CBI clearance for Praful Patel in 'Rs 30,000 crore Air India scam'
Congress has questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) closing a case against Praful Patel in the BJP-alleged irregularities in leasing aircraft for Air India, alleging that the former civil aviation minister is being let off for joining the ruling alliance after splitting NCP. The main opposition party has recycled BJP's 2014 election material, alleging a «Rs 30,000-crore Air India scam» and blaming Patel for it, and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come clean on his past statements against the UPA regime over the alleged «Air India scam» as well as BJP's allegations against Patel over purchasing a Mumbai property allegedly from terror accused Iqbal Mirchi's family. «Months after Praful Patel joined the BJP alliance in Maharashtra by splitting NCP, the CBI filed a closure report in a 2017 case of corruption, alleged by the BJP in its 2014 'Chargesheet',» Congress leader Pawan Khera said at an official briefing here on Saturday.

Fearing defeat in Lok Sabha polls, BJP misusing central agencies: Siddaramaiah
Siddaramaiah on Saturday alleged that the BJP is using organisations like the IT Department, ED, and CBI to weaken the Congress Party as the party is scared of losing the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He added that the BJP is trying to weaken their party through 'tax terrorism' as they believe that by doing this, they can win the election. «The CM said, the Bharatiya Janata Party, fearful of impending defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has been misusing autonomous institutions like the IT Department, ED, and CBI to undermine the Congress Party. As part of this tactic, they have unleashed 'tax terrorism' on our party. The BJP is under the illusion that by weakening our party, it can win the election,» as per a press statement by the CMO

How does your CIBIL score impact interest rates on loans? MintGenie explains
CIBIL score, has a key impact on the interest rates one is offered at the time of borrowing money. The relationship between your credit score and interest rates is usually inverse, which means the higher your CIBIL score, the lower the rate of interest, and the lower the score, the higher the interest rate. For instance, Ajay Mishra, a 31-year-old marketing manager boasts of a credit score of 760.

India’s trade policy must learn lessons from the past, not repeat it: Experts
trade policy, and show greater engagement and leadership in trade rule-shaping, keeping in mind the goal of becoming a developed country, Viksit Bharat, by 2047. The world has transformed since the WTO came into being in 1995 and India can no longer afford to hold on to positions it took 30 years ago. As commented by many, this is India’s century. This was the broad sense of a group of trade policy experts who gathered for a closed door Roundtable in New Delhi on India's trade policy, organised by global public policy body CUTS International.

Kerala CM accuses BJP-led Centre of endangering Indian secularism, democracy
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday gave a push to the LDF's Lok Sabha poll campaign by attacking the BJP-led Centre, accusing it of endangering the secular and democratic nature of India. Vijayan alleged that as a result of the repeated moves by the BJP-led Centre to endanger secularism in the country, a large section of people, who have been living in India for decades, are concerned whether they can continue to live in this nation. «Crores of people are living in fear and apprehension in the country,» he claimed. The steps being taken by the central government have also adversely affected India's image, of being a democratic and secular nation, before the world community. «Organisations like the UN and Amnesty International as well as countries like the US and Germany are criticising certain recent developments in India and questioning whether democratic ways are being followed here,» the Marxist veteran said.
