German Co, eyeing P75I contract, offers to make submarines in India
Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), which is bidding for a major contract to manufacture six new diesel electric submarines in India for a Navy order, said it is looking to expand its footprint and has pitched for the creation of a joint warship building hub, estimating that it can be up to 50% cheaper to make submarines and warships here. «Together with MDL (Mazagaon Dockyards Limited, which is the partner for the submarine contract), there could be a hub for technology, which will generate more orders. This is really an opportunity to go beyond the P75I (the submarine contract), which will generate, of course, more jobs,» TKMS CEO Oliver Burkhard said.

For now, not much elbow room for RBI
interest rate cut at RBI's next review meeting in February. Career bureaucrats, the conventional wisdom goes, tend to be more amenable to the gov's view early in their tenure as central bankers. But, eventually, the institutional authority exerts itself in a more autonomous approach.

The policy, valid until 2029, is part of Andhra Pradesh’s goal to achieve carbon-neutrality in the transport sector by 2047.

Dismembered head found 36 years ago in Ontario river. Now, police know who he is
Peterborough police say they finally have a breakthrough. The homicide of the Otonabee River man – revealed on Wednesday to be Gerald Durocher – has mystified investigators ever since the grisly discovery was made by members of a recreational dive club more than three decades ago.It was on July 10, 1988, when the divers took to those waters in Peterborough and found a human head at the bottom of the river some 130 feet from shore.Shortly after the discovery, which was made near Lock and McKellar streets, police launched an extensive air and underwater search to locate the rest of the body. However, to this day, it was never found. On its website, police said that through investigation at the time, they determined the head belonged to a man roughly between 40 to 74 years of age.“Some lower molars were missing and had been lost well prior to death.

Be selective in PSUs, cement; gung-ho on 3 steel stocks: Hemang Jani
Hemang Jani, Independent Market Expert, says among PSUs, Bharat Electronics and HAL have reported strong financial results, making them attractive investment options, along with select power companies like NTPC, especially after its recent demerger and the launch of the NTPC Green IPO, showcasing its renewable energy potential. While one can remain optimistic, a discerning approach is crucial when evaluating public sector undertakings. Investors should target niche, selective companies in this sector. Among steel stocks, Jani holds Tata Steel in high regard, but believes certain pallet players like Godawari Power are better positioned due to improving spreads. Additionally, Jindal Steel & Power's efficient captive unit for raw materials may offer a more attractive investment opportunity. From the end of last year till middle of this year, the PSU sector, be it defence, railways, infra or power names – had been the most buzzing segment. But that rally had fizzled out in the latter half of this year. What is your take on PSUs. A lot of people are hoping that there will be a rebound in the government spending come H2 of FY25 and PSUs will revive? Hemang Jani: Yes, some of these companies which have corrected quite sharply in the past two months are showing a good rebound and it is not just the stock price rebound.

Hemang Jani on 3 healthcare stocks to consider buying now
Hemang Jani, Independent Market Expert, says most of the healthcare companies have been doing a fairly decent job and some of these companies are in an expansion phase. Max Healthcare is looking to expand in a big way, and that is true for Narayana Hrudalaya also. For the investors looking for a steady 15-18% kind of a CAGR growth, having some exposure to names like Apollo Hospitals, Max, or Narayana Hrudalya would make sense. How have you assessed the quarterly numbers from the entire FMCG basket? Do you think that the slowdown is worrying and it is going to continue into the coming quarters? Or was it a bit of a one-off? Hemang Jani: Consumer companies, particularly the staple and FMCG companies are going through a great amount of slowdown and when you look at the quarterly numbers by and large things were not that positive. The only thing is that the market reaction to some of those numbers was a bit of a surprise because it is not as if HUL or Nestle will report a very high single digit kind of volume growth.

Why IT looks safer & more defensive compared to other segments? Amnish Aggarwal explains
Amnish Aggarwal, Head of Research, Prabhudas Lilladher, says in the IT sector, a lot depends on how the growth momentum pans out. But there are a lot of expectations built into what happens in the developed markets once Trump assumes the chair next month and that is getting reflected. Also the domestic growth scenario looks quite mixed in many sectors. So, IT looks to be safer and more defensive in comparison to some of the segments. If you are looking at the sector-wise breakup today, PSU banks are on the back foot. But having said that, railway stocks are doing quite well, while defence has managed to come back. In fact, other industrials and public sector entities have been doing well. Does that make you believe that perhaps the dip that we saw in the public sector entities, whether defence, whether railways and all of that, is behind us and now the buying would resume? Amnish Aggarwal: One cannot put all the PSUs in one basket per se because when it comes to railways, defence and some of the other industries related to capital goods, engineering, EPC, construction, etc., there were no order flows which came in Q1. In the second quarter it picked up, but now we are in the last four months of the year, and we will see more and more order announcements happening across these segments.
