ICICI Bank has raised Rs 3,000 crore through a 10-year bond sale on Friday, with the private sector lender garnering long-term funds for infrastructure financing at a time when credit growth is much higher than deposit growth, exerting pressure on banks to mobilise funds. The coupon rate – or interest rate paid to investors – for ICICI Bank’s bonds was set at 7.53%, debt capital market executives said.

The panel approved the proposal of HPCL Renewable & Green Energy Ltd to set up a 48-MW wind energy project at Umerkote in Nabarangpur district, while ONGC Tripura Power Company Ltd got the go-ahead to develop a 49.5-MW wind energy project in Astaranga in Puri district, the statement said. The total investment for these two wind energy projects stands at Rs 881.28 crore, it said.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) Friday said the amendments to mobile number portability (MNP) regulations to curb SIM swap and replacement frauds will come into effect from July 1. «The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), on 14th March, 2024, issued the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (Ninth amendment) Regulations, 2024, which will come into force on 1st July, 2024,» TRAI said. The regulator had notified the amendment in March 2024, after consulting stakeholders. The amendment adds an additional criterion for rejecting generation of the Unique Porting Code (UPC) required to port a SIM card to a different telecom service provider.

India and the US have decided to extend a 2 per cent equalisation levy or digital tax on e-commerce supplies until June 30, the finance ministry said on Friday. In a major reform of the international tax system, India and the US have joined 134 other members of the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework (including Austria, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK) in reaching an agreement on October 8, 2021, on the statement on a two-pillar solution to address the tax challenges arising from the digitalisation of the economy. On October 21, 2021, the US and Austria, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK reached a political compromise on the transitional approach to the unilateral measures in force while Pillar 1 is implemented. On November 24, 2021, India and the US agreed that the same terms that apply under the October 2021 Joint Statement shall apply between India and the US with respect to India's charge of 2 per cent equalisation levy on e-commerce supply of services and the US' trade action regarding the said Equalisation Levy.

Kochi: The Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), has bagged a Rs 1,100 crore-worth international order for eight 6300 TDW dry cargo vessels. CSL said it has won an international order from Wilson ASA, Norway, for the design and construction of four 6,300 TDW dry cargo vessels. «An agreement has also been entered into for an additional four vessels of the same type, which will be formally contracted within September 19, 2024,» a CSL release said. CSL said the new order was a continuation of the contract awarded in June 2023 for the design and construction of six 3800 TDW dry cargo vessels, which are now at advanced levels of construction at the yard at Udupi in Karnataka.

civil aviation ministry on Friday asked airlines to ensure that there is no abnormal surge in airfares for flights to and from the national capital amid suspension of operations at Delhi airport's Terminal 1 following the roof collapse incident. On Friday at around 5 am, a canopy at the old departure forecourt of the Terminal 1 (T1) partially collapsed, an incident that left one person dead and at least six others injured. With the T1, which handles domestic flight operations of IndiGo and SpiceJet, being shut, there have been flight cancellations and operations have been shifted to T2 and T3 temporarily. Against this backdrop, a senior official on Friday said the ministry has asked airlines to ensure that there is no abnormal surge in airfares for flights to and from Delhi.

HCG, India's largest speciality cancer care chain on Friday acquired controlling stake in 196-bedded Visakhapatnam-based cancer hospital Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (MGCHRI) for an enterprise value of Rs 414 crore. HCG will have initial 51% stake in MGCHRI, with plans to complete the acquisition of the additional 34% stake over the next 18 months. The revenue from operations of Visakhapatnam hospital for FY24, was Rs 120.2 crore with an EBITDA of Rs 42.2 crore. HCG said the acquisition is poised to significantly bolster cancer chain's annual EBITDA by Rs 3 per share and gain a leadership position with a dominant share in Vizag region.

State minister Shamnaz of the Ministry of Environment was detained on June 23 along with two other suspects and placed under a seven-day remand. Global money laundering body FATF on Friday said it added Monaco and Venezuela on its so-called grey list with countries under special scrutiny. Both countries now made high-level political commitments to work with the body and implement an action plan to strengthen the effectiveness of their regulation, the FATF said.

Delhi, Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has instructed officials to establish an emergency control room to address waterlogging issues. This directive came after an emergency meeting held to review the city's preparedness and response to the rain-induced disruptions. Sebi approved introducing a fixed price process for delisting companies from stock exchanges, market experts welcomed the move saying that in the earlier book-building regime listing had become a no-exit entry. «It is a good initiative by Sebi considering all those entities who attempted delisting in the past few years and were unsuccessful. These entities may attempt again for delisting. With the amended delisting framework now even if the entity fails to acquire 90% of total share capital but if the majority of public shareholders are ready to offer shares then the delisting process can be successful,» said Makarand M Joshi of corporate compliance firm MMJC & Associates.
