These small investors have also moved the company law tribunal against the bank with similar allegations. The Delhi bench of the tribunal will hear the matter on Monday.

Promoters of distressed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company Gayatri Projects (GPL) made a nearly ₹750 crore offer to creditors seeking to settle dues worth ₹9,115 crore after banks filed for the company's liquidation. However, a successful outcome is far from easy as any settlement with promoters under Section 12A of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) needs approval from 90% of lenders.

IIHL BFSI (India) has sought the banking regulator's approval to pledge 100% shares of Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Capital, the company it acquired in a bankruptcy resolution, to raise ₹8,000 crore, people with knowledge of the matter told ET. IndusInd International Holdings (IIHL), a holding company of IIHL BFSI (India), received the NCLT nod to buy the financial services firm for ₹9,661 crore.

US inflation probably moderated in April for the first time in six months, offering a ray of hope that price pressures will start to ease again after a string of upside surprises. The core consumer price index (CPI), which excludes food and fuel, is seen rising 0.3% from a month earlier after 0.4% advances throughout the first quarter. The Bureau of Labor Statistics will issue its CPI report on Wednesday. Compared with April 2023, the core CPI is projected to rise 3.6%. While that annual increase would be the smallest in three years, it's still running too fast to placate Federal Reserve policymakers, who want evidence inflation is slowing consistently as they debate interest-rate cuts.

The appellate tribunal's decision follows ASK Property Fund, the real estate private equity arm of Blackstone-backed ASK Asset & Wealth Management Group, taking ATS to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) citing a default of ₹285 crore. NCLAT instructed the IRP to limit its actions solely to the construction process and directed all parties involved to file a reply within three weeks.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena on Sunday said 1.6 lakh new Electronic Voting Machines will be used in 46,389 polling stations for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state on May 13. Besides these, another 20 per cent more EVMs have been kept ready, he said. In a release, Meena said, «Initially, it was estimated that 1.45 lakh EVMs would be sufficient for 46,165 polling stations. However, the addition of 224 auxiliary polling stations necessitated the procurement of another 15,000 EVMs.» He also noted that the Election Commission is striving to increase the polling percentage in the southern state to 83 per cent, compared to the 79.83 percentage registered during the 2019 polls. Further, he requested the voters of Andhra Pradesh to come forward and exercise their franchise, a right enshrined in the Constitution.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying while the BJP has been «counting the notes» it got from «tempo wale billionaires», his party will conduct a caste census to ensure equality. Narendra Modi has not yet «mustered the courage» to accept the invitation for a debate with Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Sunday, a day after Gandhi accepted the invite. Justice (Retd) Madan B Lokur, Justice (Retd) Ajit P Shah and N Ram had written to former Congress chief Gandhi and the prime minister last week inviting them to a platform for a debate on the key Lok Sabha election issues. «Day 1 of Rahul Gandhi's letter accepting an invitation to debate the prime minister. The 56-inch chest has not yet mustered the courage to accept the invite,» Ramesh said in a post on X. He also called as «farce» the interviews being given by the prime minister.

Air India Express is slowly restoring its flights and stabilising the network, an official said on Sunday while the cabin crew union emphasised that all members who had reported sick have joined duty. The Tata Group-owned airline, which operates around 380 services daily, has cancelled at least more than 20 flights on Sunday, the official in the know said and added that full normalcy is expected by Tuesday morning. There was no official comment from Air India Express. The strike by a section of cabin crew to protest against the alleged mismanagement at the airline had forced cancellation of hundreds of flights since Tuesday night.

Enforcement Directorate has summoned Jharkhand Rural Development Minister and Congress leader Alamgir Alam for questioning in a money laundering case on May 14, official sources said Sunday. The federal agency had last week arrested Alam's personal secretary Sanjiv Lal and the latter's domestic help following the seizure of more than Rs 32 crore cash from a flat linked to them.

He should be ashamed as the BJP's conspiracy has now become public,» Banerjee said, apparently referring to a purported video in which a local BJP leader was heard saying that over 70 women had received Rs 2,000 each for taking part in protests against TMC strongman Shahjahan Sheikh who is accused of sexual assault and land grab. In an earlier clip, a man resembling BJP's Sandeshkhali mandal president Gangadhar Kayal was heard saying that the «staged» protests were done at the behest of Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari who was behind the «whole conspiracy».

Rajasthan experienced light to moderate rain in the last 24 hours due to the influence of a western disturbance, the Meteorological Center, Jaipur said on Sunday. The highest rainfall, measuring 42 mm, was recorded in Devgarh, Rajsamand, it said. This precipitation brought some relief from the scorching temperatures in the state. Thunderstorm activities are likely to continue till May 14, the center said. Due to changing weather, the maximum temperature in most parts has dropped below 42 degrees Celsius, it said.
