Paytm Q3 Results: Cons loss narrows to Rs 208 crore; revenue slides 36% YoY
Paytm, reported on Monday that its consolidated loss narrowed to Rs 208.3 crore in the December quarter, compared to Rs 219.8 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. At the same time, Paytm's consolidated revenue from operations fell 36% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 1,828 crore, down from Rs 2,851 crore in Q3 of FY24.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services refuted bribery allegations on social media against its asset management unit officials related to its investments. While the Mumbai-based firm, in a release on Sunday, did not specify the investments, the market and social media have been abuzz with speculation in the past week that money managers have been bribed to buy shares of Kalyan Jewellers. The Kerala-based jewellery chain refuted the allegations in a conference call with analysts early last week. Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund is one of the top institutional investors in Kalyan. These rumours had resulted in Motilal Oswal shares falling 12% in the past three trading days and Kalyan's shares tumbling 20% in the past week and 33% in a month.

FPIs raise stake in select stocks despite big selloff
stock market in 2024. Notwithstanding the general pessimism, they raised their stakes in around 27 midcap stocks by more than 5%. These include Home First Finance, Sansera Engineering, Pricol, Kalyan Jewellers, Data Patterns, Yatharth Hospital, Techno Electric, Mankind Pharma, Tips Music, Delhivery, and Archean Chemical, among others. Foreigners' holdings in Sansera Engineering rose by 9.5% in 2024, propelling the stock up by 46% during the year. Similarly, Pricol surged 43% after FPIs increased their stake by 9.4%. Kalyan Jewellers India rallied 116% in 2024 as FPIs boosted their holdings by 7.8%. The benchmark Nifty gained 8.75% in 2024 while Nifty Midcap 150 and Nifty Smallcap 250 surged 23.15% and 25.64%, respectively.

Jio Platforms reports 26% net profit growth in Q3 driven by tariff hikes and subscriber increases
Reliance Industries’ telecom and digital properties, posted a 25.95% on-year rise in net profit in the fiscal third quarter, on the back of the tariff hikes of July 2024, subscriber additions and strong data usage growth. The rate hikes helped Jio grow average revenue per user(ARPU) 4.2% on-quarter to Rs 203.3. But the full beneficial impact of the price hikes will be staggered, and likely to come through Q4FY25 and Q1FY26, since Jio has a higher share of subscribers on longer-validity plans compared to Bharti Airtel or Vodafone Idea.
