Squid Game: The Challenge, Mai Whelan is still waiting to get the money in her bank account.
Commenting on her situation, the 55-year-old immigration adjudicator said: “I feel like Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Show me the money!”
A source close to the production said that Whelan was aware of the payment plan and she will receive it after show’s season 1 finale has aired.
The victorious Squid Game contestant, Whelan, has wasted no time in putting her anticipated winnings to good use. Already, she has invested in a stunning makeover for the upcoming Squid Game gala, featuring a chic short haircut, an elegant Ralph Lauren dress, and a pair of glamorous Jimmy Choo shoes.
“I still have buyer’s remorse from that, but I think it’s well-deserved,” she said.
She also hopes to find “a retirement home somewhere,” adding, “We don’t know where yet, and we are happy with where we are. We live on the water. It’s very peaceful.”
The Virginia native also plans to do some good with her prize money.
«I have charitable causes I wanna contribute more to» including «sponsoring kids receiving education and helping the elderly with their basic needs and health care. And also the wildlife and the climate.I think those are very important to how we see the world so that way we can live in it and enjoy it for everybody, not just us at the present moment,» she told Entertainment Tonight.
Whelan was declared a winner after she and her rival played a final game of Rock, Paper, Scissors following a series of grueling eliminations on the Netflix competition series.
«I don't know whether to cry or to cheer. I don't know what to do,» she said after emerging as a winner.
