The thief, who owned valuable properties in Mumbai and Pune and ensured his children attended prestigious schools, had been pursued relentlessly by authorities. Ghaziabad police, who had arrested him earlier, transferred him from Tihar jail to Bengal after authorities established his involvement in various crimes, including a robbery worth Rs 12 lakh at Sourav Abasan in 2021. A senior officer of Bidhannagar City Police told ToI that Nadeem Qureshi's modus operandi was unique, allowing him to effortlessly escape crime scenes.
In 2021, they had traced him after the Sourav Abasan robbery but lost track thereafter. However, subsequent investigations and coordination with other law enforcement agencies across the country led to his arrest in Rajasthan. Nadeem Qureshi, a Class V dropout, began his criminal journey by stealing cattle in his native village in Ghaziabad and, by the age of 17, had already committed multiple burglaries.
Over the years, he committed crime in multiple states, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Odisha, and others.
