3, including 2 active-duty soldiers, arrested in US for selling military secrets to China
Two of the accused—Sergeant Jian Zhao and 1st Lieutenant Li Tian—are both stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington state. Zhao, Tian and ex-soldier Ruoyu Duan from Oregan have all been charged with stealing and selling sensitive national defence information, which also includes details of missile-launch technology and military vehicles.
Three Held for Espionage
As per the prosecutors, Zhao allegedly handed over around 20 military hard drives, some of which were marked ‘secret’ to a contact in China. He also attempted to sell missile-related data and offered to send an encrypted US military computer in exchange for payment.

Court documents indicated that he received at least $15,000 from July to December 2024 while communicating with a buyer in Changchun, China, a report in the Washington Post said.
As per the WP report, in a separate indictment, Tian and Duan had conspired to steal classified information about Bradley and Stryker's armoured vehicles. Tian, who had a security clearance, allegedly had taken photos of sensitive documents and stored them in Google Drive links before selling them to Duan.
