Australian club cricketer stunned spectators by taking six wickets in the final over to snatch victory in a one-day game. Gareth Morgan, the captain of Mudgeeraba, found himself facing almost certain defeat in the Gold Coast's Premier League Division 3 match against Surfers Paradise.
With Surfers Paradise needing only five runs to win and six wickets remaining, Morgan decided to take matters into his own hands and bowl the last six balls. What followed was nothing short of miraculous.
Morgan first dismissed opener Jake Garland for 65, and then proceeded to claim the next five batters, all of whom were dismissed for golden ducks.
Describing the experience as «surreal,» Morgan revealed that the umpire had jokingly told him at the start of the over that he would need to take a hat-trick to win the game. Little did they know that Morgan would go on to achieve an even greater feat. Reflecting on the momentous occasion, Morgan shared, «I remember thinking after I got the hat-trick — I don't want to lose this game now.
Then it just went crazy. When I saw the stumps go back on the last ball, I couldn't believe it. I've never seen anything like it.»
The first four dismissals were all caught, while the final two were bowled, showcasing Morgan's exceptional bowling skills.
