Manipur has called for the identification of the bodies of three males, which have been lying unclaimed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Mortuary. Meanwhile, an apex body of seven militant outfits in Manipur has given a call to boycott the Independence Day celebrations and called for a 17-hour general shutdown on August 15.
The notice issued by officer in-charge of Nongpok Sekmai police station, Chandrakumar Singh, said that two unidentified male bodies were found in Ningel Toubul village in Thoubal district at 5:45 am on May 5, 2023. An unidentified charred body of a male was also found lying in a paddy field of S Elimphai village in Kangpokpi district on May 12, 2023.
«Three bodies were kept at JNIMS Mortuary after post-mortem. However, no one has claimed the bodies till date.
If anyone is suspicious, they can visit and identify the bodies within 15 days,» the police said.No CELEBRATIONS Security was beefed up across the state as militant outfits called for a general strike and boycott of the Independence Day celebrations in Manipur. Security forces have recovered 16 looted arms, 11 types of ammunition and a large quantity of explosives during the past 48 hours, officials said.
