As the countdown to Budget 2025 enters the last couple of days, the writing on the wall is clear. In a pre-budget ET survey of over 5,000 respondents, over 65.1% of those polled said not enough is being done for the middle class. Rising costs, stagnant wages and a lack of systemic support have left the backbone of India’s economy under immense pressure. On the flip side, 17.5% respondents flagged concerns about a misdirected subsidy regime, urging for better-targeted support. But the big picture remains worrisome.
Even former RBI chief Raghuram Rajan also flagged about India's demand consumption pattern.
And, here's a fresh alert! Prices of daily groceries are set to increase for a second time in three months.
