Nushrratt Bharuccha, who was stranded in Israel following the attack on the country by Hamas militants, is «safe» and on her way to India, her publicist on Sunday. The actor was in Israel to to attend Haifa International Film Festival.
«We have finally managed to get in touch with Nushrratt and with the help of the Embassy, she is being safely brought back home.
We did not get a direct flight so she is on a connecting flight home. For her further safety, more details cannot be shared but as soon as she lands in India, we will inform you. We are relieved and thank god that she is safe and on her way to India,» news agency Press Trust of India cited Bharuccha's publicist as saying.
Reports earlier said that the actor's team had lost contact with her after a surprise attack on Israel by Hamas militants from Gaza Strip. Bharuccha, 38, is known for films such as the «Pyaar Ka Punchnama» series, «Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety», «Love Sex Aur Dhokha» and «Chhorii». After working in television, she made her film debut.
She was last seen in «Akelli», the thriller drama. She was also seen in «Ram Setu» (2022).
Meanwhile, Israel has vowed strong retaliation after Palestinian militants attacked southern Israel in one of the biggest invasion of its territory in 50 years. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Israelis to brace for a protracted campaign while urging Palestinians living in Gaza to “leave now”.
