According to the social media post, the incident occurred on Sunday on the 'Green' line of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited's (BMRCL) Namma Metro. The resident who witnessed the incident took to X (formerly Twitter) to express dismay, tagging the official BMRCL account and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya.
«Location Doddakallasandra metro. One more incident of cloth/attire related incident happened in front of me just now. A labourer was stopped & told to stitch up his top two buttons… When did Namma metro became like this?” the post read.
The post garnered significant attention on social media, triggering a debate among users. While some questioned the authenticity of the incident, others shared their perspectives. One user replied, “What you have seen is half cooked, and I also inquired about the passenger today. His mouth smelled of alcohol consumption. The staff stopped him aside to check, and then, when he realised that he was drunk yesterday, they let him travel.”
However, BMRCL has said that it treats all passengers equally.
