Banks had logged record high credit card spends of ₹2.02 lakh crore in October, backed by several festivals during the month especially Diwali.
Spending on credit cards increased 5% from a year earlier in November, though easing from a more than 13% increase in the month before.
«Credit card spending witnessed moderation in November 2024, post strong festive demand in October. Spending through point-of-sale (PoS) transactions dropped by 14% sequentially, whereas online spending declined by 17.5% month-on-month,» said Meghna Luthra, research analyst at InCred Equities.
