Texas Rangers on Wednesday scripted history by clinching their maiden World Series championship.
Leading 3-1 and on the verge of finishing the series away from home, Texas secured a 5-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, winning the World Series 4-1. Maintaining their impressive MLB postseason streak, the Rangers extended their record to 11-0 on the road in a single postseason.
Seager bagged the MVP award, becoming fourth player in the history of the sport to win multiple World Series MVP Awards after multiple clutch plays throughout.
The rival Diamondbacks clocked more hits than Texas in the both the last two games but were not able to capitalise.
Texas, on the other hand, made the most of their resources, with Seager delivering crucial home runs. The same trend continued for Arizona in Game 5, with the team holding runners in scoring position in every inning until the fifth.
Despite the Rangers not securing a single hit through six innings, the scoreboard remained at 0-0.
Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi encountered trouble in the fifth as the D-backs loaded the bases, but he managed to escape unharmed. After two innings, Texas seized three back-to-back hits off the previously flawless Zac Gallen, resulting in Seager's run through Evan Carter's RBI single to center.
As the game approached the eighth, tension heightened as Texas loaded bases against Kevin Ginkel, but the 29-year-old managed to prevent any runs from scoring.
However, Paul Sewald's ninth inning turned into a nightmare as the lead expanded to 5-0 for Texas through a sequence of hits. Marcus Semien's two-run homer further secured the lead.
For Arizona, the final inning concluded with two strikeouts and a foul out, with Texas's Josh Sborz on the
