Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The BJP's southern ally reiterated its stand against the implementation of the UCC after reporters asked Palaniswami questions on BJP's push for Uniform Civil Code. Palaniswami said the position had already been made known in the party's manifesto released for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier on Monday a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice meeting was held under the chairmanship of BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi in Parliament to discuss the agenda of the Uniform Civil Code. Opposition MPs said in the meeting that it is necessary to keep in mind that the UCC is not just about one family law, but about the matters related to every religion, caste and community of the society, so all sections of the society must be kept in mind.
