Mumbai airport reportedly charged an extortionate amount for a basic masala dosa.
As shown in an Instagram clip, the restaurant at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport priced its masala dosa at Rs 600.
The video shows the restaurant's price list, which prices a basic masala dosa with buttermilk at Rs 600. A benne khali dosa costs even more — Rs 620.
If customers pick lassi or filter coffee as their choice of beverage, the bill inflates even more.
The video quickly went viral, garnering millions of views and a huge number of comments.
The video shows the dosa being made. Some netizens said the stuffing used was a «dry» masala one.
Viewers, surprised at the price, said that its visual appeal and taste didn't justify the cost.
“Dosa 20 Rupees to 600 Rupees highly developed india??????,” one user wrote.
“Does it have anything to do with selling and Privatisation of airports? What were the rates earlier to privatisation?” asked another.
Some compared it precious metals. “Gold is cheaper than dosa at Mumbai airport,” one wrote.
It is costlier than silver, a few others quipped. “Actually in real silver's rate is same as this dosa,” one said.
“That’s more expensive than dosa at Singapore,” yet another user commented.
