Akshay Kumar-Pankaj Tripathi-Yami Gautam has crossed Rs 85 crore within a week of its release. However, did you know that Akshay Kumar didn’t charge a single penny for the movie? Dismissing all rumours of the movie exceeding the budget of Rs 150 crore, Ajit Andhare, the COO of the movie’s distributors Viacom 18 told Pinkvilla, that Kumar didn’t charge money for the movie. Calling all the reports on the film’s budget as “grossly exaggerated,” Andhare said, “Akshay didn't charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial and creative risk involved in such a courageous film,” he stated. Talking about his bond with the superstar, Andhare maintained that the budget of the movie is about Rs 50 crore and Kumar was involved both creatively as well as financially in the movie.
About ‘OMG 2’Directed by Amit Rai, ‘OMG 2’ is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 satire-drama ‘OMG’. It revolves around the importance of imparting sex education to kids. Kumar plays the role of the deity Lord Shiva in this movie. Tripathi plays a devout worshipper of Lord Shiva, while Yami Gautam plays a no-nonsense lawyer. The movie hit the theatres on August 11, alongside the Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer ‘Gadar 2’. Despite the explosive success of the latter, ‘OMG 2’ has managed to remain stable at the box-office.
