Aligarh has crafted a humoungous 400 kg lock for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The huge lock stands at an impressive 10 feet in height, 4.5 feet in width, and 9.5 inches in thickness, and comes with an intricately designed four-foot-long key. The man, Satya Prakash Sharma, is said to be an ardent devotee of Lord Ram.
According to Sharma, his family has been engaged in making handmade locks for more than a century in Aligarh, which is also known as 'taala nagri' or the land of locks. Sharma said to have worked for months on the lock which he plans to gift to the Ram temple authorities later this year. According to Sharma, he invested approximately Rs 2 lakh from his life's savings to manifest his dream project into reality.
Drawing upon his decades of experience in the lock-making trade, he envisioned this remarkable creation as a homage to his city's legacy of lock craftsmanship, and a unique contribution to the temple. The lock was previously showcased at the annual Aligarh exhibition earlier this year. Since then it has undergone constant refinement and embellishment under Sharma's dedicated craftsmanship.
His wife, Rukmani, has been an integral part of this ambitious endeavor, lending her assistance throughout the arduous journey. «This endeavor was a labor of love for me, and my wife, Rukmani, also played an essential role in this ambitious venture,» Sharma expressed. He further elaborated that after creating a 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide lock in the past, he was inspired by suggestions to craft a larger, more remarkable piece for the temple.
