Rafah, an area in the south of Gaza, bordering Egypt, was bombed by Israeli forces. This caused the loss of lives of at least 45 civilians, along with many injured, according to an 'NBC' report.
There have been many instances when AI images have been used for online activism concerning international geopolitical issues and crises but the 'All Eyes on Rafah', has topped it all with the image having 37 million shares on Instagram in less than 24 hours. According to 'NBC', experts studying misinformation on social media have asserted that the image 'definitely looks' AI-generated.
The image shows certain inconsistencies where the refugee tent camps are being shown. It has a very unrealistic symmetry, which is a generic case of AI generated image. Most importantly, the instance of pattern repetition, as seen in the image, is a common factor in AI-generated imagery.
