Amazon has announced a significant reduction in the price of its Prime Lite membership plan.
Originally introduced at Rs 999, the annual subscription now stands at a wallet-friendly Rs 799, presenting a compelling option for cost-conscious consumers.
Key to this revised plan is the expansion of delivery benefits. While the initial iteration focused on a two-day delivery service, the updated Prime Lite subscription now includes one-day delivery, two-day delivery, scheduled delivery, and same-day delivery.
Users can also opt for no-rush delivery and receive a cashback of Rs 25 on their orders, without any minimum order value requirements.
One notable tweak involves morning delivery, which now comes at an additional fee of Rs 175 per order for Lite members. This is a departure from the standard Prime membership, where the same service is available at Rs 50.
The revised membership continues to offer the convenience of no-cost EMI and discounts on eligible products, along with a 6-month free screen replacement benefit.
However, it's essential to highlight that the Lite plan excludes certain services, such as Amazon Music and Prime Gaming. In terms of video streaming, Lite members can access Prime Video content at a maximum resolution of 720p, limited to one device, and with ads during live sports and TV shows.
Despite these limitations, the Lite subscription does bring a new advantage – a 5 per cent cashback on select purchases made through the Amazon India website using an Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card.
