American Pie 5 has been hinted at by Jon Hurwitz, co-writer and co-director of American Reunion. The iconic American Pie franchise, originating in 1999, has entertained audiences with its teen sex comedy narrative, centered around best friends Jim, Kevin, Finch, and Oz, alongside the irreverent Stifler and their diverse love interests.
While the main franchise comprises four movies—American Pie, American Pie 2, American Wedding, and American Reunion—five direct-to-DVD spinoffs also exist.
Responding to a fan's inquiry on Twitter regarding the prospect of American Pie 5, Jon Hurwitz, also co-creator of Cobra Kai, playfully suggested that if Universal was keen on exploring the romance between Jim's Dad and Stifler's Mom, they knew where to find the creative team. This playful hint stirred excitement among fans, particularly considering the characters' blossoming relationship in American Reunion.
The concept floated by Hurwitz holds intriguing potential for an American Pie 5 storyline. Currently in development with screenwriter Sujata Day, the upcoming American Pie movie isn't expected to feature major recurring characters or storylines.
However, if American Pie 5 becomes a reality, Hurwitz's proposal could be a winning formula. Bringing Stifler's Mom and Jim's Dad to the forefront would place two beloved characters, who had never shared substantial on-screen interaction before American Reunion, in the spotlight.
While Stifler's Mom has remained on the fringes of the American Pie narrative, occasionally appearing in the four main movies with a recurring subplot
