In the last assembly polls, YSRCP clinched 151 seats while TDP could grab only 22 seats. In the southern state, a party to form a government needs a majority of 88 seats.
The current party in power, YSRCP released its list with the constituencies for both Lok Sabha and state assembly polls together just hours before ECI made the official announcement. It has announced the names of 25 candidates for Lok Sabha polls along with 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh.
On the other hand, TDP has released two lists with the candidates it is fielding for the state polls.
«The first list of candidates contesting on behalf of the Telugu Desam Party in the upcoming 2024 elections has already been placed before the public. Now we have brought you the second list, with 34 more candidates,” N Chandrababu Naidu said while releasing its list. He emphasized the importance of public opinion in the candidate selection process, urging the people of the state to support and ensure the victory of all TDP candidates.
The TDP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Jana Sena Party (JSP) have recently reached a seat-sharing agreement in Andhra Pradesh for the impending elections. According to this pact, the BJP will contest from six parliamentary seats, while the TDP and JSP will vie for 17 and two seats, respectively. In the assembly elections, the BJP will compete for 10 seats, the TDP for 144 seats, and the JSP for 21 seats.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting held at Amaravati following discussions between the three parties
