Arun Govil, who gained popularity for his portrayal of Lord Ram in the iconic television series «Ramayan,» as a candidate from the Meerut constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Following the broadcast of «Ramayan,» Arun Govil became a household name across the nation. It was common for people to worship his image in their homes. Arun Govil was born on January 12, 1958, in the Meerut district but spent his childhood in Shahjahanpur. Apart from «Ramayan,» Arun Govil has also acted in several other television shows and films, but it was his role in «Ramayan» that brought him fame.
Arun Govil continued to work in various television shows after «Ramayan.» He was also seen in «Vikram Aur Betaal.» Recently, he was noticed in the series «Article 370.» His portrayal of Lord Ram in «Ramayan» earned him immense popularity, but it also had its drawbacks. Due to his association with the image of Lord Ram, he often missed out on other roles as filmmakers hesitated to cast him. According to media reports, Arun Govil was paid approximately Rs 51,000 for each episode of «Ramayan,» which had a total of 81 episodes. Thus, he earned around Rs. 40 lakh as fees for the entire series.
After gaining fame from Ramanand Sagar's show, Arun Govil's fee saw a 25 per cent increase in his signing amount. Consequently, he was paid Rs 50 lakh for «Oh My God 2,» despite having a minor role in the film. According to media reports, Arun Govil's total net worth is around Rs 38 crore.
