Assam government has decided that all cabinet ministers will spend five days and five nights in a particular village. This decision was reached during a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, indicating the government's commitment to grassroots engagement.
During this period, foundation stones are set to be laid for 400 new buildings, including those for high and higher secondary schools.
Notably, 100 of these new schools will be established in tea garden areas, which will contribute to the educational development of these regions.
For the renovation of existing school buildings, a substantial allocation of 7 crore rupees per school has been approved. The foundation stone-laying ceremonies are scheduled to take place from December 25, 2023, to January 10, 2024.
This period also coincides with the planned stay of cabinet ministers in particular villages.
The government has chosen five different villages from five different zones for this initiative. During their stay, the cabinet ministers will actively assess the practical implementation of welfare schemes, with a focus on determining the level of saturation achieved in these programs.
Additionally, in support of the upcoming Durga Puja festival, the Assam government will provide grants-in-aid of Rs 10,000 each to 6,953 puja pandals.
This gesture aims to ensure the successful celebration of the festival in the region.
Furthermore, it's worth mentioning that the Assam government had earlier decided to send cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs, and selected top government officials to villages for a 15-day engagement next month.
