Election Commission of India(ECI),Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said that the election commission of India has decided not to wait for the Supreme Court to give its final order and have gone ahead to publish. Last week the Election Commission of India published the Delimitation of assembly and parliamentary constituencies.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in X, “Today the Honorable President has approved the Delimitation Notification issued by the Election Commission of India for Assam. A significant milestone has been achieved in the history of Assam.
Jai Maa Bharati Jai Aai Asom.” The ministry of Law and justice in a notification stated, “in exercise of the powers conferred by the second proviso to article 82 and the second proviso to clause (3) of article 170 of the Constitution, I, Droupadi Murmu, President of India, hereby specify the 16" August., 2023 as the date on which the Election Commission's Order No. 1, made vide notification number O.N.19(E), dated 20 June, 2023 and Order No.
2, made vide notification number O.N.33 (E), dated 11th August, 2023 in respect of the State of Assam, shall take effect.” Gogoi on Friday in Guwahati told media persons, “The election commission of India has decided not to wait for the Supreme Court to give its final order and have gone ahead to publish.Why the chief justice of India have been removed from the selection panel of election commission.The BJP’s move shows that they don’t want a biased election commission so that can design the delimitation as per their electoral benefits.” Several political parties have moved the Supreme court challenging the delimitation proposal.
