Congress alliance partners in Maharashtra reacted differently to the yearend assembly results. While INDIA bloc architect Sharad Pawar said the results were on expected lines, the Shiv Sena (UBT) blamed Congress leaders Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath for the defeat in MP.
Pawar said the results would not impact the Lok Sabha polls.
«Here people want change.» INDIA bloc would meet in Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's official residence in New Delhi on Monday to take stock of the situation, he said. «We would discuss the results and take stock from people from these states,» Pawar said.
On Rajasthan, he said: «The mood of the people was to give power to newer people.» Results in Telangana, where the Congress trounced the Bharat Rashtra Samiti, were not surprising either, he said.
Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sanjay Raut said, «If the Congress had gone for seat adjustments with Akhilesh Yadav's SP, the result would have been better.
SP has good presence in 10-12 seats in MP… The MP results, I believe, is due to Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh. Rahul and Priyanka campaigned well there… INDIA bloc should fight all polls unitedly.»
