The solution, named Skylane, reduces the standard five-to-seven-day waiting period for visa approvals that travellers have come to expect by addressing inefficiencies in traditional workflows and replacing manual approval processes with data-driven systems, according to founder Mohak Nahta.
Several governments are already piloting the solution, although Nahta did not disclose specific details.
Explaining the platform’s functionality, Nahta said that when a visa application is submitted, Skylane generates a structured risk profile, akin to a credit score for travel. This profile consolidates verified identities, authenticated documents, and potential flags, offering consular officers a clear, data-backed assessment.
By eliminating physical documentation and shifting to electronic processing, Skylane facilitates paperless visas linked directly to passport numbers and reusable biometrics. This approach reduces operational costs and enhances the scalability of visa approval systems.
