Atul Subhash’s death sparks legal and emotional turmoil: Arrests made, custody battle ensues
Karnataka Police confirmed on Sunday. Subhash, a 34-year-old deputy general manager at a private firm, died by suicide on December 9, leaving behind a 24-page note alleging harassment by his wife and her family.
Nikita Singhania, Subhash’s wife, was arrested in Gurugram, Haryana, while her mother, Nisha Singhania, and brother, Anurag Singhania, were apprehended in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. All three have been remanded to judicial custody, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shivakumar, White Field Division, Bengaluru, reported ANI.
Case details: Allegations of harassment
In his suicide note, Subhash accused his wife of filing nine cases against him, including allegations of murder, domestic violence, dowry harassment, and financial exploitation. He also claimed a judge had demanded Rs 5 lakh to “settle” one of the cases. «Justice is due,» he wrote on every page of the note.
Subhash’s father, Pawan Kumar, revealed that his son had been emotionally shattered by the legal battles. «He was broken from inside. Though he didn't tell us much, he would say that corruption is everywhere, but he would fight as he was on the path of truth,» Pawan Kumar told ANI.
