MEXICO CITY – The Bank of Mexico projects the country’s economic output to grow 2.3% in 2023, more than the 1.6% the central bank previously estimated, after a stronger-than-expected start to the year.
Gross domestic product grew 1% in seasonally adjusted terms in the first quarter from the previous period and by 3.7% from the year-earlier quarter. The pace of expansion is seen easing in the remainder of the year given the U.S. economic slowdown and its likely effect on demand for Mexican exports.
