Sips bar has secured the top spot in the 2023 edition of the World's 50 Best Bars, a prestigious ranking organized by William Reed Business Media. Double Chicken Please in New York followed in the second position, while Handshake Speakeasy from Mexico City clinched the third place.
This year, the awards ceremony made history by taking place in Asia, specifically in Singapore.
Sips' ascent to the pinnacle marked a significant change from its third-place ranking in 2022, underscoring Barcelona's increasing influence on the global cocktail scene. Marc Álvarez, co-founder of Sips, attributed their success to the unique blend of drinks, music, and architectural design at their bar.
The 2023 list featured bars from 28 cities, including 11 new entries, highlighting the industry's worldwide diversity.
Europe continued to dominate with 22 spots, followed by North and South America with 14. Asia claimed ten spots on the list, while Australia and Dubai each secured two.
Notably, European bars shone brightly, with London and Barcelona each securing two spots in the top ten.
Himkok in Oslo, Norway, surged 33 places to break into the top ten, landing at the tenth position.
