Madhabi Puri Buch, chairperson of capital market regulator Sebit told the incoming students of IIM Ahmedabad at a recent event. Madhabi Puri Buch, an IIM Ahmedabad alunmus, took charge as chairperson, Securities and Exchange Board of India, last year. She had earlier served as whole time member of the market regulator and had handled Market Regulation Department, Market Intermediaries Regulation & Supervision Department, Integrated Surveillance Department, Investment Management Department, Department of Economic & Policy Analysis, Office of Investor Assistance & Education, National Institute of Securities Markets and Information Technology Department.
Ms Buch had also served as a consultant to the New Development Bank in Shanghai. She was the head of the Singapore office of the Private Equity Firm, Greater Pacific Capital. She also served as the managing director and chief executive officer at ICICI Securities Limited and as Executive Director, on the board of ICICI Bank.
She is graduate in mathematics from St. Stephen's College, New Delhi. Reacting to Sebi chief's advice to students, Suman Mishra, CEO, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, in a tweet said: «So apt! Be a learner forever, suspend ego and absorb everything!» The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) recently welcomed students of the 60th class of the Two-Year Full Time Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) on campus.
