Arctic air is sweeping through parts of the United States, causing a significant drop in temperatures. The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted freezing conditions across the Midwest and beyond from Monday.

The National Weather Service has reported that a cold front is moving through the Ohio Valley. This will introduce Arctic air to the Midwest on Monday. Snow showers will accompany this cold front in parts of the Northeast. Isolated snow squalls are also possible, which could cause hazardous travel conditions due to reduced visibility, gusty winds and minor snow accumulation.

High temperatures in the Midwest and the Ohio Valley are predicted to remain 10 to 20 degrees below average. Overnight temperatures in parts of the Midwest, Ohio Valley, and the interior Northeast are expected to fall into the teens and single digits. Some areas, including parts of the Dakotas, Wisconsin, and Iowa, may experience subzero temperatures. As the air mass moves eastward, the East Coast will also see below-average temperatures by Tuesday.
