The stretch, running from the Hoskote interchange to Bethamangala, is equipped with road safety measures, and all vehicle types are allowed to use it. However, toll collection is yet to begin, as NHAI is awaiting further directions after submitting a request for toll notification.
«Motorists are using the stretch from the Hoskote interchange, exiting at Bethamangala. We have put in all road safety measures. All types of vehicles are using the road. Till a notification is issued for the collection of the toll, we cannot restrict any category of vehicles. We've written to the headquarters for collection of tolls and further directions are awaited,» TOI quoted an NHAI official as saying.
The 68 km toll-free section connects Hoskote to KGF (Bethamangala), where motorists can exit and use local roads to reach Mulbagal and the Andhra Pradesh border. The remaining 3 km of the expressway in Karnataka is expected to be opened by the end of the year, along with the rest of the route beyond the state. The full expressway, stretching 260 km, will connect Bengaluru to Sriperumbudur near Chennai, allowing speeds of up to 120 km/h.
