The alignment starts with an elevated corridor near Sarjapur's IT corridor, transitions underground at Koramangala, traverses the central business district through tunnels, and emerges on Ballari Road with elevated stations at Ganganagar and Hebbal, Times of India reported. A notable feature is its interconnection with existing Blue, Pink, Purple, and Phase III lines at four points.
At Iblur, the line connects with the Blue Line, providing connectivity from the Central Silk Board junction to Kempegowda International Airport.
Dairy Circle links to the Pink Line, offering routes towards Bannerghatta Road or MG Road. Near KR Circle, the proposed station integrates with the operational Sir M Visvesvaraya station of the Purple Line.
Near Hebbal, connections extend to the Blue Line, Phase III (Kempapura to JP Nagar), and the suburban rail station (Baiyappanahalli to Chikkabanavara).
The new line is expected to play a vital role in easing traffic congestion within city limits, passing through core city areas. The integration with operational Metro lines and those under Phase II A and B is anticipated to significantly benefit commuters.
For instance, the proposed KR Circle Metro station near UVCE will connect to the Sir M Visvesvaraya station through a subway.
Several projects have been proposed in the past to alleviate congestion on Ballari Road, such as the high-speed rail link to Bengaluru airport and the contentious Steel Bridge project. However, the Sarjapur-Hebbal line is seen as a comprehensive solution, reducing congestion between Basaveshwara Circle and Hebbal with seven stations along the route—Basaveshwara Circle, Bengaluru Golf Course, Palace Guttahalli, Mehkri Circle, Veterinary College, Ganganagar, and Hebbal,
