Bhargav Dasgupta has resigned from the role as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ICICI Lombard. The company has confirmed that he will continue to discharge his duties until his final working day, which will be communicated in due course.
Dasgupta, who has served as MD and CEO for nearly 14 years, was originally expected to conclude his tenure in April 2024.
As the succession planning process is initiated, ICICI Lombard is actively searching for a successor to fill this leadership role.
The company's board of directors has accepted Dasgupta's resignation, citing his intention to explore career opportunities abroad as the reason for his departure.
«I am writing to tender my resignation as Managing Director & CEO of ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited, to pursue a career opportunity outside the country,” said Dasgupta in a letter. “It has been an honour to lead ICICI Lombard for more than 14 years and to serve the 32 million policyholders who trust us for their insurance needs.»
Shares of the company fell 0.89% to Rs 1345 on BSE when the benchmark index rose 0.07%.
