WASHINGTON—President Biden said Thursday the U.S. would send roughly $800 million in additional military aid to Ukraine, as Russian forces tightened their grip on the strategically important port city of Mariupol.
The latest package will include heavy artillery weapons, such as dozens of howitzers and more rounds of ammunition and tactical drones, Mr. Biden said in remarks at the White House. It comes days after Russian forces began a fresh offensive in eastern Ukraine.
