Congress leaders have alleged an electoral nexus between BRS, BJP and AIMIM ahead of the assembly polls in the state, aimed at splitting the anti-incumbency votes against the K Chandrasekhara Rao government in order to defeat Congress. Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Revantha Reddy claimed that once the assembly polls are over these three parties would be in a formal alliance for the Lok Sabha polls, just as the BJP and JDS did in neighbouring Karnataka.
While maintaining that Congress will score a big victory in the Telangana assembly election, Reddy said at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) media briefing on Thursday that BJP, BRS and AIMIM have already worked out an informal seat-sharing formula for the Lok Sabha polls.
«During the assembly election in Karnataka, I had said BJP and JDS had formed a nexus against Congress and that they will form an alliance in the Lok Sabha polls, which they have done now. Similarly, BRS, BJP and AIMIM have formed a nexus against Congress in the assembly polls.
They will form an alliance in the Lok Sabha polls. They have already worked out a seat-sharing agreement by which BRS will contest nine seats, BJP seven seats and AIMIM one seat,» he said.
«Their aim is to defeat the Congress and INDIA alliance.»
Ex-PCC chief Uttam Reddy said «the understanding between BRS and BJP is evident from the fact that none of the central investigating agencies are targeting any of the top BRS leaders whereas leaders of Opposition parties in the state where they rule are being constantly harassed by ED, CBI and IT».
On the reported push by CPI and CPI (M) for a larger number of seats from Congress in the alliance, the state Congress leaders said the AICC was dealing with the issue.
