Trading fees at BNP Paribas surged by more than 50% in the first quarter, as the bank benefited from market volatility in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and an ongoing expansion of its investment bank.
The French lender posted revenue of €4.7bn in its corporate and institutional banking unit in the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 28% on the prior year thanks to a sharp rise in trading fees.
