Brooklyn Public Library's Central Library is currently hosting a temporary exhibition dedicated to the iconic rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z. Named «The Book of Hov,» the exhibition showcases a vast collection of archival materials, including original recording masters, previously unseen photographs, stage outfits, prestigious awards, videos and various artifacts representing different aspects of Jay-Z's professional life. Opening on July 14, the exhibition is expected to remain open through the fall, although the closing date has not yet been announced.
The official website of «The Book of Hov» provides visitors with audio clips, text descriptions and photos of the exhibition. Spanning a significant portion of the library's 352,000-square-foot building, the exhibition offers a variety of displays and interactive experiences. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own smartphones and headphones to enhance their visit.
Numerous exhibits are situated in the library's lobby, including a multimedia «tower of power» and a full-scale sculpture featured on the cover of Jay-Z's 2009 album, «The Blueprint 3.» The New and Noteworthy room has been temporarily transformed to showcase Jay-Z's awards and recording memorabilia. Additionally, an interactive vinyl listening station allows visitors to explore the records sampled across Jay-Z's extensive discography. The library's children's wing features a Jay-Z-inspired station where young visitors can create paper planes, while the adjacent teen room provides information about Jay-Z's business ventures and philanthropic efforts.
