BTS member Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, is set to commence his mandatory military service on September 22, according to an announcement made by BigHit Music, the management agency for the popular South Korean septet. On this day, and during his entry into the training camp, no official events will take place.
BigHit Music issued a statement on the fan community platform Weverse, urging fans to show their support in their hearts while refraining from visiting Suga at his workplace during his service period.
«SUGA will be beginning his required service on September 22.
There will not be any official events taking place on the day he starts his service or on the day he enters the training camp,» the statement reiterated according to several news reports.
Suga will become the third BTS member to embark on this mandatory journey, following Jin and j-hope.
In light of this development, the management agency also took the opportunity to caution fans against unauthorized tours or package products that exploit the artist's intellectual property (IP). They stated, «Our company will take appropriate measures against attempts at any commercial activity that make unauthorized use of artist IP.»
BigHit Music extended a request for continued love and support for Suga throughout his service duration, assuring fans that they would provide all necessary support during this period.
