additional subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries, sources said to ETNow.
Domestic LPG prices could be reduced by Rs 200 per cylinder if the cabinet committee approves additional subsidy. At present, beneficiaries are already receiving subsidy of Rs 200.
The amount that PMUY beneficiaries will receive after this decision would be Rs 400 per cylinder, said the source.
Back in March 2023, the cabinet committee had extended subsidy of Rs 200 per LPG cylinder under PMUY for a period of one year.
To make LPG available to the rural and deprived poor households, the Central government launched PMUY in May 2016, to provide deposit-free LPG connections to adult women of poor households.
