Over the summer this year, Hunter Biden had pleaded guilty in connection to federal charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes from 2016 to 2020. Moreover, in a separate case, he was also convicted of making false statements on a federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives form. Hunter was set to be convicted in the second week of December, on both of these cases, but right then, the Presidential pardons flew in from nowhere, and it now looks like the President's son is a free man. This issue has raised a lot of anger and concern on the justice system, with the opposition enraged about this executive usage of power to grant clemency to Biden's own son.

Biden is of the opinion that Hunter had been selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted, and he had to watch it all for a long time. Only at the end of all this, he decided to pick up the pen and grant the pardons. Meanwhile, Donald Trump called this pardon an abuse and miscarriage of Justice. However, legal experts are now claiming that the pardon is airtight and cannot be overturned by any means.
Is Joe Biden still the President? Yes, even though Donald Trump is now the President-elect, after winning the US Presidential elections 2024 convincingly, Biden will continue his own term till January, 2025.
