According to AP VoteCast, 40% of voters cited the economy as the nation’s most pressing issue, with 60% of these voters backing Trump. However, expectations for his ability to reduce costs remain tempered. Among Republicans, less than half are highly confident in his ability to lower prices, though 60% believe he can effectively create jobs.
Confidence in Trump’s broader economic leadership is limited. Only about one-third of Americans are “extremely” or “very” confident in his ability to manage the economy. The poll indicates that nearly half are either “slightly” or “not at all” confident. Public confidence also remains low in other key policy areas, such as immigration and national security, with only about a third of respondents expressing high confidence.
